I Had The Most Awkward, But Fun Photo Taking Session Ever
Ever had anyone taking pictures of you while you are working out at a public park?
Of course you have not! Sheesh. Well, unless you are posing for a photo-taking session with a local newspaper.
On last Monday, 26 April 2018, me and some other members of the MuslimWithMuscle(sg) organisation was invited by Berita Harian(a local newspaper company) for an interview session at the other side of the world (Tampines).
We were told to pose in ways that best describes Muslimewithmuscle.
So, the best way is to show them how we work some sweat while trying our best to look "cool", something that I am natural at (haha).
I remembered standing there feeling awkward not knowing what to do. So, I just smiled and watch them working out.
Until the interviewer realized I was slacking and so she made me do something.
I was still recovering from an injury. I was not slacking!
My Second Family
Everyone needs a second family. A group of friends and mentors who will pick you up when you are down and those would help you realize your dreams and passion.
MuslimWithMuscle(sg) is exactly that group that I needed in my life. The founder, Hilmi Anwar, is one of those people that I daresay is "one-of-a-kind", like a legendary Pokemon (I just had to).
It started on social media. Facebook really can change lives if you think about it.
I once saw this guy's profile picture and thought that he looks buff and friendly.
Then, I saw some pictures of him participating in various community work which is rare.
Buff guys are either busy working out or going for competitions.
I got to know him further and realized we had similar life goals and dreams.
A patient, kindhearted, and optimistic guy (although he is shorter than I expected him to be).
Who wouldn't want to have a friend like that?
I mean, for someone who could tolerate my "trolls" and lame jokes, he deserves a medal.
Then, you have the rest of the family members. It is a mixture of people who came from extremely different backgrounds.
There are some who were once fat and now they are fit. Entrepreneurs and self-employed persons who believe in serving the community. A group of elderlies who wants to maintain their physique and health. Others, who just wants a support system that they can rely on when they feel alone.
I am proud to see how big MWM has grown and will continue to grow and prosper.
And, to be a part of this group, I really am grateful to God. It is His plans after all.
Which is why I kept on saying that if we want to change our lives, we have to change our environment.
Change Your Environment To Help You Grow
MuslimWithMuscle is not a company. It is a community-based organisation that provides the support system for anyone and any other company to come and work together with the same purpose and goals.
I should have written down his quotes because I forgot the exact words he said that day(sorry). But, I believe he would agree with my own version of MWM description.
Be with people who will make you grow and never stop chasing your goals. Help others along the way. Never do things for profit only. Money is still important to keep things sustainable. Work hard. Move more. Remember our purpose in life as a Muslim. Be aware of your body physical limitations and weaknesses. Focus on prevention rather than cure. And, most importantly, have fun:)
That's what MuslimWithMuscle is all about.
Don't forget to smile
Want to be free from health problems and burn your fats?
Easy, just reduce your rice portion...or maybe not?
We all know that diet plays a huge role in weight loss and our overall health. We could delay diseases, prevent further health complications, and burn fats effectively just by ensuring that our bodies get what it needs on the cellular level.
Some have claimed that carbohydrates, especially rice and bread, is the main problem and that we should reduce it.
In this article we will find out if that claim holds true and also, we will take a look at the benefits and cons of reducing our carbs intakes.
A Diet Known To Save People's Lives
Imagine you are ready for a workout. You feel energetic, you are in the right mood, and somehow, you have more time that day.
But, you are not sure whether you should go to the gym, or to the nearby park, or should you just do a quick H.I.I.T body weight training at home.
Figuring out the best place for a workout can sometimes be a dilemma if you're not following a consistent workout regime.
The best way to decide is to know what is your goal for that day.
Sometimes, you need to do a trial and error too.
